Which pressure cooker size should you choose?
3, 4,5, 6 or 8 liters? See which pressure cooker size suits your family and the way you cook.
A pressure cooker's size is its total volume, but it's never filled to the brim: there's always room left for steam. So choose based on how many people eat and what you cook most.
3 liters: for one or two people
Good for people who live alone or as a couple, and for small portions of beans, vegetables and meat. It takes up little space and comes up to pressure fast.
4,5 liters: the most common size
It handles everyday cooking for a family of three or four. If you're only going to have one pressure cooker, it's usually this one.
6 liters: large family or cooking for the week
For five or six people, or for those who cook once and freeze portions. It also helps with large cuts of meat.
8 liters: for cooking in quantity
For very large families, Sunday lunch with everyone and big batches, like feijoada.
What about the model?
Besides size, check your stove: for induction, MTA makes the Visor MTA Inox pressure cooker, in 4,5 and 6 liters, and the Fechamento Externo Indução, in 4,5 liters. And with the viewing window, whatever the size, you follow the cooking without opening the pot.
